Back in the heady days of Macintosh System 7.5, Greg Landweber released Aaron, which changed the system's windows and buttons to match the "Platinum" appearance of the upcoming MacOS 8 (codenamed "Copland" after the composer Aaron Copland). Hacked versions of Aaron quickly appeared with the MacOS 8 images replaced by images of the hacker's creation. Landweber realized he had a cash cow and released Kaleidoscope, which could switch "schemes" on the fly. [Comments are disabled]
This is a brief request on behalf of distribution maintainers, intended for those who produce and edit themes and their content. In it, I make a request for clarity and thoroughness in the copyright and license terms applied to themes, to make it easier to include your themes in Free Software distributions. Over the years, I've used 4Dwm, Afterstep, Blackbox, Enlightenment, FVWM, Icewm, KWM, PWM, Sawfish, Window Maker, and wmx, and played with many other window managers. I used Window Maker more than any other, but generally would only stick with one for a couple of months before getting restless and trying something else.
